Guinea PCV Sam Wu in Bintimodia hopes to raise $1644
for a community library. From PCPP:
"The Bintimodia Library and resource center
will be opened to the public community to provide
written resources, encourage a culture of reading
and literacy, and provide a distraction-free environment
for studying. Bintimodia will partner with the library
in Kamsar -the closest established library- in establishing
professional standards and procedures as well as in
receiving preliminary training for librarians. To
stimulate interest in the community, community events
and readings for young children will be held each
month and library promotion fliers distributed throughout
the surrounding community.

PCV Slawa Rokicki is seeking funds for a library
and community sensibilization center at the Brouwal
Tappe Middle School (Pita Prefecture). The project
was initiated by the school's principal and is supported
by community leaders and students. The goals are to
ease overcrowded classrooms by splitting classes and
allowing library time for students to work on independent
projects. It is hoped that reduced classroom size
will improve the quality of education and that the
projects will help develop students’ critical
thinking skills. The facility will also be used to
conduct community sensibilizations on HIV/AIDS and
other topics for student groups and the community
throughout the year.
Slawa needs to raise $425 for this project to come
to fruition. Help her by visiting the donation
page and by giving to the "General Fund."
