Below is a couple remarks we received from some of our happy members over the years.
Thanks for your initiative and continuing work to develop and maintain your website, Guinea list, and Friends group. It's a great service.

My name is Alice Browning and I am a high school French teacher. I am in the process of acquiring background information on Guinea in preparation for teaching L'Enfant Noir by Camara Laye. I just wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed reading your website, following your links and learning about PCV's experiences in that country. My eyes are burning from spending so much time in front of my computer screen!
I am fascinated by the personal accounts and plan to have my students spend time reading about your experiences as well.
Thanks so much for providing this insight. I was worried that I would be unable to find a way to make the African culture "come alive " to my students as I know very little about the cultures in these countries. Now I plan to make Sesame cookies as part of our introduction to Guinea and West Africa!
Hi Stephanie,

I just read the e-mail entitled "FOG website wins NPCA first place award." Please accept my heartiest congratulations. You and your colleagues deserve the recognition; it's a wonderful site and a great service to all of us who've enjoyed or shared in the Guinea Peace Corps experience.

On behalf of Hawa Barry and her husband Mamadou, I would like to convey a heartfelt thank you for the generosity of those of you who sent checks. Friends of Guinea collected more than $800 in Hawa's name, including a personal donation and note of encouragement from Dane Smith, president of the National Peace Corps Association.

"This is to confirm reception of the $ 200 check sent to Guineenews. In the name of our readers and the team of Guineenews, we thank you for this generous contribution which will allow us to pay for the hosting of the website, the renewing of the subscription and honoria of encouragement [very small gifts to help defray expenses] to our volunteer correspondants in Guinea."

Hi Stephanie,
I'm really impressed with your site. I never knew there was somebody in this country that have something to say about mine. I'm really glad to see that you did enjoy your time in my country and that you did a lot to help the community. I bet it was not an easy task, but when you put your heart and strenghts into your willing to help people that need it the most, nothing in the world can stop you. Thank you and your friends for your assistance.
